"Le Toile" in "La Toilette"

My Christmas gift to my mother was to redecorate her guest bathroom.  Now, before you start judging me because it's September, and Christmas was almost 9 months ago, I should come clean and tell you this was my gift to her from TWO Christmases ago.
Now that I've gotten that off my conscience, let me show you some fun pictures from the redo.  I have no "before" pictures because, as you may have gathered, I'm not the most organized person.  I like to think that disorganization goes along with great creativity, but again, I digress.
This two-room bathroom started out as the most boring (sorry mom!) 80's yellow, with no style to speak of.  Using mostly items she had been collecting for a while, and some fun paint effects, we brought it to life.  She chose a soft champagne color for the walls, accented with black and cream, and metallic gold painted ceiling and wall stencils.
We stuck to a very strict budget, so the only major pieces we replaced were the fixtures: lights, cabinet pulls, and outlet covers.  Instead of ripping out the medicine cabinet, we took off the door and converted it to a cute display shelf, complete with toile background.
We also updated the linens with a classic French Toile by Waverly, and put a little subtle bling into the curtain rods and towel holders.  Small spaces should always have a touch of drama to give them presence.
Add a few accessories, some finishing touches, and "VoilĂ !"
The smallest details make a big impact in a small space.
Now the room is inviting to guests and beautiful on a daily basis to the homeowners who see it every day.  Merry Christmas Mom!  I think this year I'll go with a gift that can be more easily gift-wrapped.
