This month's featured artist is my friend Ruth Chou Simons. She's an artist and blogger I admire, and more that that, she's someone I respect as a mom. Anyone who can survive 6 boys, and still find time to make art, is someone who inspires me! Here is a little more about her...
New Mexico Artist Ruth Chou Simons is passionate about creating serene and gracious experiences using paint and canvas. While her subjects range from still-life to portraits, her greatest area of interest is the juxtaposition between the natural and the abstract in the world of botanicals. As a follower of Jesus, she sees all beauty in the light of the grace bestowed on her through the Cross. All things have been created by Him, through Him, and for Him and for His glory. That is at the heart of all she desires to express through art.
Her artwork has been commissioned, published, and privately collected throughout her last 15 years as a producing artist. Notably, her large commissioned painting, “Contexture,” can be found at Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary in Mill Valley, California. Locally, her paintings and design work can be found at Casa Verde Salon and Spa.
Ruth's priorities are raising her boys and supporting her husband in his ministry, and she currently produces artwork by commission only. Her portfolio, creative writings, and photography can be found online at her blog, GraceLaced (www.gracelaced.com). Also, see my "Featured Artists" page for more of her paintings.
