Featured Artist: Kenneth Green

Since this blog is dedicated to all sorts of things I find inspiring (and hope you will too), I want to share with you a friend of mine whose work inspires and challenges me.  His name is Kenneth Green, and he is a what I would call a landscape painter in contemporary New Mexican style.  I'm not sure if that's really a style, but it gives you the idea anyway.  He has a unique ability to capture the light, color, and feel of the New Mexico landscape that I fell in love with when I first set foot in this state.

Kenneth was born in Albuquerque, earned a B.F.A. in painting and drawing from Baylor University, and an M.F.A. in painting from the University of Cincinnati. Ken has been involved in the professional art world as a painter, gallery owner, and educator for over thirty years—he also has an extensive background in music, which includes a Master of Music in conducting. Along with his art, Ken has had a parallel career in worship and music ministry. He has been teaching at Southwest University of Visual Arts in Albuquerque since January of 2012.

I've known Ken for years, through a period of time in which I longed to paint or do other creative things, yet felt unable to for some reason.  He has always encouraged and challenged me to find a way to do what I love, and I'm grateful for his influence.  I hope you enjoy and are blessed by his work, as I have been.

Head over to my "Featured Artists" page, or to Ken's website http://kennethgreenfineart.com/ for more information and photos of his work.
